AFTER project aims to improve African traditional products and the know-how associated by sharing the European and African knowledge and technical for the benefit of consumers and producers in Africa and Europe.
Financed by the European Commission (FP7) the project is coordinated by Cirad. It will be implemented by partners of 7 African countries: Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Egypt, Madagascar, Senegal and South Africa and 4 European countries: France, Italy, Portugal and United Kingdom.
The project started in September 2010 for a duration of 4 years.
A meeting will be held to the NRI in Chatham (UK) from 9 to 11 May 2012. The objectives of this meeting for the work-packages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 et 7 are to present the results obtained, to discuss on the way of dissemination and to plan the activities to come. In April 2012, Genevieve Fliedel and Anne Laure Declemy (Cirad - UMR Qualisud) went to Madagascar for conducting sensory and consumers tests on Kitoza (smoked pork or beef meat) with the active support of the team of Dr. Danielle Rakoto from the University of Antananarivo. This study is a part of the workpackage WP5.
