Consumer testing of bissap drinks

After Senegal in October 2013, reengineered Hibiscus drinks were tested by French consumers in Montpellier during the week of 17-21 March 2014.

Maria Joao Monteiro (ESB, Porto) joined Geneviève Fliedel and Isabelle Maraval (Cirad) in Montpellier to carry out acceptability tests of bissap drinks (Hibiscus sabdariffa) made by using AFTER improved processes.

Something new this time: consumers who agreed to taste the drinks were invited to answer a questionnaire online. Qualtrics 360, the online survey software, was used by ESB to develop the questionnaire. The consumer is guided step by step and data are automatically recorded on an excel file, an internet connection is just required!
Nine computers were allocated by IT department at Cirad. Consumer tests were conducted at SupAgro with 150 French consumers and the enthusiastic support of four technicians and assistant from Qualisud research unit.

The results will be analyzed and compared -as in the case of traditional bissap drinks- to those from England and Portugal.
